Whitney Van Ord is the newest employee to join the practice, starting in the fall of 2010.  Whitney serves as receptionist, handling phone calls and scheduling, and also has begun training in paraoptometric duties in patient care.
Jeffrey Moore, OD is a native of Frewsburg, NY.  He joined the practice as an associate in June of 2002.  Dr. Moore serves patients' primary care vision needs for infants to seniors.  Dr. Moore is certified to treat ocular disease and glaucoma problems.
Susie Spangler has been on staff at the practice since 1985, serving as business manager and also serving as a paraoptometric in patient care.  She is an enthusiastic promoter of the InfantSEE program of the American Optometric Association, educating the public about early comprehensive vision care.
James Spangler, OD, a Warren native, founded the practice in 1980.  He has special interest in vision development in children, and vision skills associated with learning and vocational performance.  He has also been certified in treatment of ocular disease and glaucoma.  Dr. Spangler has investigated uses of photography in examination of infant and non-verbal patients and also uses of photography in vision therapy patients.
Our practice opened on August 1, 1980 in the Sill House on Liberty Street.  Rapid growth required moving into the Warr-Penn Building at 213 West Third Avenue exactly one year later.  The office has maintained its location in Suite 106 since 1981.

Our offfice offers ample parking in the municipal lot directly adjacent to and behind the Warr-Penn Building.  There is a handicap ramp accessible by using the side door in the small driveway between the yellow Sill House and the Warr-Penn Building.  The office building is smoke-free.

We are pleased to offer our patients the latest in full-scope primary optometric vision care.  Services include functional vision and eye health assessments for patients from infancy to senior citizens.  We also offer a full dispensary with quality eyeglass services and also have several thousand contact lenses in stock for contact lens fitting and dispensing.

Our goal is to not only meet our patients vision needs, but also do our best to explain each individual's vision concerns and offer the best treatment and prevention options to ensure the best possible vision for each patient's lifetime.
Every optometrist I know has had a certain individual who has had a profound impact on his/her professional development and growth.  I am no different.  My mentor was Dr. Michael Phillips of St. Petersburg, FL.  A kind man whose heart was as big as his smile.  He generously shared his knowledge, his resources, and his spirit of giving with a young optometry student, sponsoring me for externship in his office.  He laid the foundation for the optometrist I am.

Many thanks, my friend.  God took you home far too soon...
